Toiletries for Tucson Students

Toiletries for Tucson Students

Helping Tucson teens

Helping Tucson Students

We supply students in need in the greater Tucson area with basic toiletries and hygiene products.

How it Works

Our community has many adolescents and young adult students who cannot afford to purchase such supplies, and their self-esteem and academic performance suffer as a result. We deliver the items to Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) elementary through high school pantries, and school representatives distribute them to students according to need. Future expansion of the program will help to ease the challenges of students who face ongoing economic pressures.

Viva Pima! Books

Viva Pima! Books

Hooked on Books

New Books Lead to Literacy

Viva Pima! Books provides classrooms with new, high-quality books, which encourages literacy and learning.  We currently work with schools that have insufficient resources to purchase and stock appropriate books that help students develop more advanced skills and concepts.

This program also supplies books to Parents as Teachers, an early childhood support program that serves families from pregnancy until their children enter kindergarten. Additionally, Viva Pima! Books provides new books for each child who participates in our Viva Pima! Kids program.

How it Works

School personnel are given a budget from Viva Pima! to shop there for age-appropriate, curriculum-applicable materials. They select materials to meet the specific needs of their students, including refugees, English Language Learners, emotionally challenged youth, and other diverse populations.

We drop ship paperback books to all Viva Pima! Kids.

Viva Pima! Recycle

Viva Pima! Recycle

Sometimes the donations we receive that do not sell well in our Thrift Shop or perhaps we receive an order for one of our programs that does not meet the standards we have set for our program inventory. If we cannot sell these items in our Thrift Shop, we find an organization that can use it.   One organization we work with is the Humane Society of Southern Arizona who will happily take towels and sheets with holes, ragged blankets or quilts to be used in their shelter.

“Without Viva Pima! (sic) donation, the animals wouldn’t have this soft bedding,” says Susie Jones, an Viva Pima! member who takes our contributions to the Humane Society.

For more information please contact our Thrift Shop at 520-326-8452, and let’s continue to help create a greener Tucson by reducing, reusing and recycling.
