Four Handmade Molas
Molas are handmade using a reverse applique technique. Several layers (usually 2-7) of different colored cloth (usually cotton) are sewn together; the design is then formed by cutting away parts of each layer. The edges of the layers are then turned under and sewn down. The mola or molas, form part of the traditional outfit of a Kuna woman in Panama. These are all beautiful and can be framed or made into a pillow. Various size – largest 11″ x 16″.
